Hello dear readers!

First of all, let me introduce myself: My name is Mirko Kirn and I’m FerroECOBlast® Europe’s production and assembly manager.

I was born in a musical-viticultural family, yet I ended up with a degree in mechanical engineering. I graduated from the High School of Mechanical Engineering in Novo mesto and continued my studies at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering in Ljubljana. Over the years, I have acquired all my knowledge and skills by working both at home and abroad.

The work I do at FerroECOBlast® Europe includes both production and assembly planning. But that's not all, I am responsible for the optimal allocation of work and capacity utilization, which is also related to the realization of the planned project deadlines. In essence, I see myself as a link between technology, procurement and warehousing departments, subcontractors and, last but not least, quality assurance, making sure that work and communication between all of them runs smoothly.

Sometimes it can be tiring, but it's never so bad that it couldn't be worse (what doesn't kill you makes you stronger, they say...)

My morning routine includes reviewing my work plan for the day while sipping a cup of coffee, usually 15 minutes before the start of the workday. Then, at 7:00, I tour the entire production floor, making sure everyone is at work. I stop by each team and am amazed by the variety of machines we manufacture: there’s the Addiblast™ team working on a new super-high-tech cabinet, while another team is finishing our latest machine for dental implant blasting and yet another is building a huge shot peening chamber for a big aerospace client. At the same time, I pass the documentation which our technical director Darko previously brought to me together with the work orders to the team. 

I’m also tasked with keeping a watchful eye on the status of individual projects. In case of discrepancies, I have to inform other employees (project manager, quality, procurement, warehouse…) to prevent and mitigate any potential issue.

Additionally, I’m also responsible for interphase control of semi-finished products both in-house and with subcontractors, like quality acceptance of material coming from laser-cutting and painting. In case anything is off, I inform our quality manager Alena, which is in charge of resolving complaints.

In short... the work I do makes me happy because it is varied and interesting, even though it’s tiring at times. I don't know what feeling bored means! But together with my wonderful co-workers, we always succeed - we are a team and we always stick to the slogan “we do more”!

Coming from a musical family, I often end up as the "company entertainer" at social gatherings – and I am known in the company for my particular sense of humor (like joking about the fact that it’s work that should warm us, not the heating, when the guys start noticing it’s colder during the winter months).
