What is Remanufacturing or Industrial Renewal of Products?

Remanufacturing is a process of dismantling and renewal of machinery at the level of the module, but also at the level of each component. The process is designed to repair or replace worn parts, and can also replace obsolete components and modules. Parts that are subject to rapid wear and have a significant impact on performance are replaced.

Some facts about Remanufacturing (restoration of components):

industry bigger than the "steel industry",
global annual turnover of more than 50 billion €,
double-digit annual growth in number
higher contribution to the environment as solar and wind energy.

Remanufacturing is a five step process consisting of:

  • complete disassembly of the product,
  • thorough cleaning of all parts,
  • detailed inspection and clasification of parts,
  • renewal or replacement of parts,
  • re-assembly of parts.

CLEANER project

Slovenian company FerroČrtalič has received status of national site developer for CLEANER project (Cleaning Engineering for Remanufacturing). The project was approved at the national and later at the European level by the European Commission. FerroČrtalič Company will act as a partner with extensive experience in the field of processing and cleaning areas. We are participating in the project CLEANER with the German Fraunhofer Institute and University of Ljubljana and German Bayreuth.

CLEANER Project is aimed at restoration products industry, which is dynamically developing and promising industry segment. Material recovery products (remanufacturing) is becoming in the context of sustainable development one of the key industrial sectors, or comparable in size larger than the steel industry.

The company's goal in CLEANER project is to develop new technologies, methods and indicators for defining the parameters of purity, the development of new treatment technologies, analysis of purity and development of measuring equipment and develop solutions for efficient material flow in the cleaning process. Based on the results of that research, a knowledge base and online decision support system that provides user-friendly and efficient access to knowledge and information related to cleaning processes will be developed.

Cleaning of renewable products - IRT article

International European project Cleaner (cleaning of renewable products) under the aegis of the EraSME Network aims to explore and combine knowledge and technologies in the field of industrial cleaning products renewal. As part of the design and use of technologies for cleaning are a reputable German companies BU-Drive Herrmanns, Mela, MD Rebuilt, Klubert + Schmidt and Slovenian company FerroČrtalič which have decided to bridge link with the German Fraunhofer Institute, University of Bayreuth and LAKOS Laboratory at the University of Ljubljana.

In the context of global industrial development of products renewal the company FerroČrtalič will present their achievements this year at the largest fair ReMaTec2011 in the field of industrial products renewal, held in Amsterdam (19.-21.06.2011), where Mr. Bojan Črtalič will have lecture on cleaning technologies through the various phases of development in industrial reconstruction products.
